mai titi narrates how she met shumba

Mai Titi and Shumba

Why I Had an Early Release? My case was taken to the High Court, and I was acquitted. The state stated that I was wrongfully charged, and therefore, I needed to be released immediately. Tears rolled down my cheeks with joy 🥹. My five months behind bars were unwarranted, but I don’t regret the experience, as it shaped me into the person I am today - very successful and business-minded. I acquired skills I never knew I possessed, and I realized that sometimes adversity is necessary for growth.

A convoy arrived to pick me up, and my parents and close friends took me home, where a grand celebration awaited. I was reunited with my children, and it felt incredible. Everyone was present, except for my love, who video-called to welcome me home, promising to join me soon. Within two weeks, Shumba’s Diaries flew to Zimbabwe, and I was overjoyed to see him. He reassured me that he would uphold his promise, and nothing would change that. I inquired again about what drew him to me, and he replied that he saw what others refused to see 🥹. We resumed our normal life, and I began working on the skills I learned while incarcerated, such as creating T-shirts and lotions. I applied for a visa and started traveling to the UK, selling my products to clients, mostly abroad.

Shumba continued to commute between Zimbabwe and the UK, balancing both homes, until I decided to travel to the UK again for business. Unbeknownst to me, another challenge awaited. Despite my efforts to rebuild my life, some individuals resented my success after prison. They wished I had perished there and suffered afterward. However, God had other plans. Someone leaked my visitor’s visa, and a series of emails were sent to the Home Office, falsely accusing me of being a criminal, smuggling illegal lotions, and working without proper documentation. Upon arrival at the UK border, I was instructed to step aside, and an investigation ensued. I explained that I was merely trying to provide for my family. I was taken to a facility, where some advised me to claim asylum, but I declined. Ultimately, I was informed that I couldn’t enter the UK due to improper documentation. I was deported back home, and my enemies celebrated, believing that this would mark the end of my relationship with Shumba.

However, my partner surprised me by offering to relocate to Zimbabwe permanently, stating that he would create a new life and job there. I was astonished by his willingness to make such a significant sacrifice for our relationship. He reassured me that deportation would not break us, and he began making arrangements to relocate, shipping his cleaning equipment to Zimbabwe and preparing for a new life.  Shumbas Diaries
